“THIS TIME WITHOUT YOU”
BY CAPTAIN KLAS & SECRET CIRCUS
“This time without you” opens the old wounds you thought you had forgotten about, rehashing those final moments like shadows lingering in the night. Be embraced in the arms of the song’s beautiful heartbreak, with the promise of a new life, but being very much in the present and accepting the end, which can be interpreted in a multitude of ways.
Beautiful hand cut imagery in analog stop-motion by artist, Dusty Deen pierces the heart frame by frame as it tells a story of love and loss. The video was created by printing a video as individual frames, and then the foreground is cut out with a knife and scanned with a hand made crayon painting behind showing thru the cutouts. This technique is extremely time consuming, but the result is an amazing one of a kind music video.

“This Time Without You triggers a memory of romance in a haunting way. The contrast of the artistically created animation of the video, together with the complex arrangement of melody and words, show a world of emotion where the longing for one’s love takes center stage. It is emotional to listen to, and memories appear out of the contrast of color and grey.”
“Again, the Åhman brothers seamlessly weld their Psych-pop sound and their visual art direction with intelligence and taste. Never just a song, always an experience.”
“I love love love the song. Some of my favorite work from you yet!”
“The song is written so well and is very captivating!! Along with the stimulating visuals this music video stands out! I hope that all the hard work that was put into this video pays off because this team deserves it!
5 out of 5 stars! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️”
“The video is amazing, of course. It’s mind-blowing to imagine how much time it took to construct it by hand, but the result is nothing that could be achieved with computer alone. As to the tune...what can I say? I’m a fan of SC’s songwriting and production, and neither disappoints. Beautiful, haunting, moody, and a whole bunch of other adjectives that are far too cliche to do it justice. These crazy Swedes do Americana better than Americans do.”
“So visually stimulating! I always have loved this song, and the music video just gives it another edge, and makes it feel complete.
Bravo! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️”
“Amazing song. Very reminiscent of some of the great folk artists of our time!”
“That song is beautiful, made me tear up a little bit. Music video is trippy as hell!”
“Once again you take us into a different world. An amazing song!”
“A delightful blend of animation and live action elements. Never one to disappoint, the Captain has managed to take a relatively simple premise and execute it perfectly to fit a catchy tune. In addition to being upbeat, colorful and thought provoking, the anonymous nature of the animated silhouette lends to fitting oneself into the narrative.”
“Inviting and relaxing video treatment. Nice hills and valleys built w/the song progression crescendos. Great song production quality.”
“Such a beautiful song that has a very airy cinematic quality and melancholy to it that speaks to any human with a heartbeat. The video does an excellent job of pushing the feeling of the lyrics and music to a whole other level. Heartbreaking in the best of ways.”
“The Swedish Twins, Klas and Joel Ahman, aka Secret Circus, this time with a tune about moving on from a failed relationship, with the haunting memories surfacing, while being determined to move on... Very beautifully crafted song and minimalist hand cut video... enjoy!”
“Beautiful!!!”
“It’s SO DOPE!!!”
“Riveting!”
“As usual they have put together a thoughtful and heartfelt song with a compelling video.”
“I absolutely love this song. I listen to all kinds of music but am partial to country but I love the lyrics of this song. The video and especially the animation was spot on. Of course my view may be biased since it is my son that created it.”
